Working hard is not
good enough???
School days!!!!I remember how we
were told by parents, teachers , elder siblings to work hard….to slog for 14
hours during the 10th exams…and we thought that was the end of the
world!!...then we step to college and then the real world…and face all kinds of
people from different backgrounds, different places , different classes of society and then
surprise!!! It’s all so different…..suddenly we see that
creative brains out there with brilliant
ideas or so called ‘jugaad’ in the Indian language come with brilliant solution
to day to day problems which are totally out of text book solutions.!!!!!We are
shocked, surprised and amused to see that how street smart work pays off to
small and little things…the so called jugaad or smart work has led to so many start ups
across India addressing small problems and smaller issues..
The same topic is highlighted in
the book ‘Working hard is not good enough’ by TVC Prasad. Many times I feel we get
carried away by just looking at the number of hours we put in without
considering that are we working effectively?? Are we working like robots or
machines doing same things repeatedly or are we adding value to the work by
thinking of simple solutions to the problems .When we ask ourselves how did
automation evolve??it was this line of thinking by some lazy bunch of people
who wanted to communicate without physically going to that place giving rise to
telecomm industry….in the industries ….giving
birth to robots who could reduce all the hard work by humans…I can give tons of
such examples...So what do we conclude from this??...that it is always the
brain. The central processing unit of human beings which is the most powerful
thing he /she has which will always come up with smart solutions and always prove that ‘working HARD is not good enough’…..
